Question:
When a full database backup is done, does this make heavy use of the Transaction log?
I was reviewing one of the maintenance plans for an instance we are running and the full DB backup around midnight, but the Transaction log backup doesn't happen until later that morning. The Tlog size was set to 10GB and between the time we stopped activity the previous day and the next morning, the Tlog had filled up somewhere between the time the DB backup was done and when the next Tlog backup was scheduled to run.
How can I review the transactions that were completed during this time and possibly find the culprit.
I know about using DBCC OPENTRAN , and then using the spid to find the details of whats being done, but what about transactions that have already ended?
